A Learning-Rich Season ahead with WEkEO
As demand for accessible, high-quality environmental data continues to grow, WEkEO is raising the bar to empower users at every stage of their journey. This season, the platform is unveiling an ambitious training programme designed to give participants the knowledge and tools to make the most of Copernicus Earth Observation data.
Kickstart your Earth Observation journey with WEkEO’s Beginner-Friendly Webinar Series “WEkEO Essentials”
This spring, WEkEO is launching WEkEO Essentials, a three-part webinar series designed to empower newcomers in the Earth Observation community. Whether you are a student, an early-career professional, or simply curious about exploring environmental data, this series offers an inspiring, accessible entry point.
Through these sessions, participants will gain practical insights into working with atmosphere, climate, land, and ocean data – and by the end, they will have a solid understanding of the full range of WEkEO’s tools and how to apply them effectively in research and projects.
Here’s what to expect:
- Session #1 – Explore Copernicus | Tuesday 13 May – 10:00 AM (CEST)
In this introductory session, you will learn how to navigate the WEkEO platform and understand the scope of Copernicus data available through our user-friendly tools, such as the data catalogue and the WEkEO visualization tools.
- Session #2 – Navigate Copernicus Data | Tuesday 20 May – 10:00 AM (CEST)
The second part of WEkEO Essentials will guide you through the WEkEO Workspace, where you will learn how to access, manipulate, and visualize Copernicus Earth Observation data directly from your browser without installing any software on your machine.
- Session #3 – Expand Your Toolkit | Tuesday 27 May – 10:00 AM (CEST)
This final session is designed to consolidate your knowledge and introduce more advanced tools and features, such as the Copernicus Innovation Lab and EOCanvas, to help you take full advantage of what WEkEO has to offer.
June and September: a focus on Climate Change and Ice Monitoring
WEkEO Essentials is only the beginning. In the coming months, WEkEO will organize additional trainings, each focusing on specific topics.
In June, we will explore the power of Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) for demanding computational tasks, including the processing of Earth Observation data. The training will focus on data related to climate change.
In September, we will walk you through the use of Earth Observation data to monitor the state of the ice and process data through the WEkEO EOCanvas serverless function, GPU capabilities and the Q-GIS plugin.
